Suicide Prevention

I do not own rights to this video clip. It is the production of the Grenada Broadcasting Network-GBN

Suicide continues to be a societal concern, however, there are things that can be done to prevent suicide and to also identify and address suicidal ideation. This GBN feature with our therapist Neila Phillip, highlights some of the things that can be observed and done to address this concern.

Seek professional help for your self or for someone else if you/they are experiencing difficulty with conditions like Depression or with suicidal thoughts.

Yearly at Beyond Wellness two clients are selected and offered 6 sessions at no charge to them. Clients can nominate themselves or can be nominated by someone else. The two recipients are chosen based on their needs, availability for online sessions and at the discretion of the clinical psychologist. In 2024, two persons received these sessions and another two person will be selected in 2025. We are open to your financial support to increase the number of persons who can receive these sessions. Send us a message to find out how you can help.

World wide, the month of September is known as suicide awareness month. Mental Health and Stigma in the Caribbean

On our Instagram and Facebook pages during the month of October we engaged our social media family in a discussion about mental health and stigma in the Caribbean and brainstormed together about the things we would like to see change regarding mental health.

Comments from our social media followers

...teach children and youth about mental health, emotional intelligence, and coping skills early on, reduce stigma and encourage help seeking behavior later in life. have regular community workshops...train locals as mental health ambassadors or per counselors who can identify signs of mental health distress in their communities and refer people to professionals~_darkie.23

Postpartum mental health care for mothers after giving birth~island_queen97

The stigma that we have when it comes to mental health or those with developmental and intellectual disabilities! Because of this, a lot of individuals do not want to reach out for help or look into the not so available resources that we may offer because of shame!~bel_liina

Create specialist mother and baby mental health services, and educate the upcoming generations about mental health at an early age preventing room for stigma. ~_iiam._liyah._
